BitTorrent Now offers a new way for content publishers to distribute their music, movies, books and games. Traditionally these files are stored on a central server cluster that requires expensive network infrastructure. Due to this overhead, the media distributor must draw a significant amount of the total cost of the content. In other words, the distributor takes a huge chunk of the money collected for the media. Generally, the artist sees little of this revenue when all is said and done.
Based on the BitTorrent protocol, BitTorrent Now allows for the artist to receive a vast majority of the revenue from the sale. Once a listener downloads the files, he or she then becomes the distribution source for the next person downloading. It's a server-less system with no network infrastructure needed to widely distribute the files.
